The gospel account of the conversation between
Jesus and the Samaritan woman, is a passage that
shows how we can be converted in the same way
as the Samaritan woman - from concern with our
physical needs to that which concerns our life
of faith. So, from the level of physical thirst
for water, Jesus also invites us like the
Samaritan woman, to seek for the “living water”
that shall quench and fully sustain us towards
eternal life.
The gospel for today leads us to seek God’s
Spirit and be filled with the joy of living in
Christ. If in our present state of life we
only set our sight for the gratification of our
physical needs, we will always be aware of our
thirst and hunger. If however, we set our sight
towards God’s Spirit in Word and Sacrament, we
will be filled with things that will really give
us life eternal: peace, faith, joy, charity,
patience, generosity, kindness, goodness, purity,
and gentleness. More

14 Stations of the Cross
Zenit news came out with a news item on the
spiritual exercise of praying the Stations of
the Cross. It refers to an interview given to
a Church authority who speaks about the importance
of placing actual “crosses” beside the picture
of each station of the cross. Without these
cross symbols in the 14 Stations of the Cross,
the exercitant of the prayers will not receive
the indulgence proper to such a spiritual
exercise. So, if anyone wishes to pray the
14 Stations of the Cross in church, one has to
make sure that each station has a “cross” symbol
to gain the indulgence.
